You’ve arrived in Dallas for Profit Summit 2015. You’ve received your registration packet and a selfie stick. You also notice there is a chance to win a $50 gift card for tweeting the best selfie to #ProfitSummit.
But how do you actually use the selfie stick? Luckily for you, I struggled through the attempt already and have a few helpful tips to make the process a little easier for you.
There are instructions on the back of the stick’s packaging, but those only really help you assemble the product, which is fairly self-explanatory.
The one HUGE piece of information that is not included in the step list: the Bluetooth connection.
After assembling your stick, carefully placing your phone in the holster, positioning yourself in front of something interesting or inappropriate and ensuring no one is photobombing you, you’ll try pushing the button on the handle of the stick, but to no avail. In order to actually take the picture with your phone, the stick has to connect via Bluetooth.
In the settings of your phone, the device usually shows up as “SS-” followed by a few numbers and/or letters. If there are no options under your Bluetooth settings, there will be a switch on the bottom to turn the stick on and activate. Your phone may need a few moments to find the device so be patient.
Once you have connected, give us a smile/grumpy-cat frown/goofy face and tweet it using the hashtag #ProfitSummit between sessions, at the gala dinner or whenever you have a free moment. If you put some extra creativity into it, you’ll have the chance to win a $50 Amazon gift card.
And last, but not least, make sure to reverse your camera so it’s looking back at you!
That photo up there is our famous attempt after figuring it all out. Works pretty well, don’t you think?
